Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary - January 2nd

Today me and my Mom went to Mass Audubon's Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick. It has been shut down for a while because of the pandemic, and only recently re-opened. One of the things i like about Broadmoor is how untouched it is. At Nobscot or Assabet, you will see cut down trees regularly, and you will generally notice that they are heavily managed. The woods at Broadmoor even seem more like old growth, with thick trees, pits and mounds, and a lot of dead trees which have been let lie or stand, and are not cleaned up. This is probably due to their strict rules on not damaging the environment. One day, i brought a bucket and aquarium net with me, a couple years ago, and they told me i couldn't carry them in.

I do think their is an appropriate balance between letting people do whatever they want, and restricting everything for the sake of the environment, but I enjoyed my day at Broadmoor.

The Red Pine photo is going into my upcoming post on how to ID trees by their bark.

I know that this post did not take place in Framingham, like my blog title suggests, but It has almost the exact same wildlife that we have here.
