Plans for The Month + Walk At Sudbury River Towhead - January 3rd

I've recently been very exited about how my blog will go in 2022. I've been planning new trail cam locations, and started a search for the (or possibly multiple) coyote dens.

During junior privileges, my friend and I took a walk around what I recently learned is called a "Towhead": when a river splits into two smaller streams, and then rejoins, forming the full river once again. As you can see below, the forest iv'e been walking in for so long actually is a Towhead of the Sudbury River...

While we walked, we visited the fox den to set up my camera trap, and found a small group of mallards paddling around. The photo is zoomed in to the bulk of them, so you can't see the other females, but there were 2 males, and probably 8 females. Those 2 males are gonna have a lot of fun in April, if you know what I mean. Aside from the fact that the clay mound is frozen solid, and their are new fox tracks, The fox den is exactly the way I saw it around 2 weeks ago...

While setting up the camera, I noticed a large cave - like gap under a dead pine tree's roots. I didnt think to take a photo of it, but I think it may be an American River Otter den. I could easily be wrong, because I've never seen a wild otter, let alone the den of one, so i'm no expert, but I'll put one of my cameras there soon, because it would be amazing to get pictures of one.

Notice I said "one of my cameras". I ordered a camera on Amazon to replace my P40 that gotten stolen about a month ago. Soon i'll start doing alot more trail cam type posts. Below are some of my ideas that could become posts soon, but none are guaranteed to happen.

Simpson Street Grove  -  mink? coyote? raccoon?
Possible Otter Den At FHS
Merlin Street Grove    coyote?
Internet Video of Bobcat on Nobscot Road!
Do coyotes cross the masspike at night?
Coyotes behind king school?
Landham Road
Otter Sighting at Sudbury River (Main St.)
Another check of wildlife in the "Pine Grove"

Again, I probably wont try all of them, but that was a list of my brainstorming. I will check the Fox Den cam on Wednesday, so please stay tuned!
